Schedule of Activities

Pre-Event Stream Study at the Creek led by Stroud Water Research Center.   Meet at Carpenter Recreation Area Shuttle Stop.

10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.  Timed Reservations.

Curious about what stream life can teach us about our water quality? This is a stream study so please come dressed appropriated (old clothes and sneaker or boots that can get wet). Pre-event stream study advanced registration required!  Space is limited. Hikes with Friends of White Clay Creek State Park

12:15 – 1:30 p.m.   Join Gary Kirk, Friends and Trails Club leader for a challenging hike over varied terrain, bring water to drink.

1:00 p.m. Family Hike with Glenn Zelluck to Cattail Pond.  Join Glenn as hike and learn about some local invasive plants.

2 – 2:45 p.m. Family friendly hike of  the Blue Bird Box Trail.  Join the Friends as they lead you to several of the blue bird nesting boxes to learn about this great long term projects.

Main Stage Performances and Presentations

12:30 p.m.   Damn the Torpedoes, a Live Petty Tribute Band

Bring a blanket, pick up a lunch or snack from our local food vendors, enjoy some music , dancing and fun while rocking with the Petty Tribute Band.

3:00 p.m.    Birds in Flight with Phung Luu and Animal Behavior and Conservation Connections, LLC

Join the audience at the main stage lawn and be immersed in this experience where birds take flight.  You will have up close encounters and may also witness natural behaviors demonstrating their adaptation. This ultimate program allows you to connect with the birds and become inspired for conservation action.

On-going Exhibitors, Photo Booth, Face painting, Bubble Machine and Food with UD Creamery, Home Grown Café, I Don’t Give a Fork, The Wandering Chef Catering Cart.

What Does Stream Life Teach Us About Our Water? Join Us May 2 to Learn the Answers!

creek fest stream study 2014Like to get in the creek and learn hands on about the critters who live there? Curious about what stream life can teach us about our water quality? Join our friends from Stroud Water Research Center as they lead a pre-Creek Fest Stream Study along the banks of the White Clay.

Space is limited so please register by following this link to the Registration Form. Registrants will receive a final confirmation once all slots are filled indicating your departure time from Carpenter Recreation Area at White Clay Creek State Park. This is a stream study so please come dressed appropriated (old clothes and sneaker or boots that can get wet).

Date: Saturday May 2

Time: First shuttle departs Carpenter Recreation Area, White Clay Creek State Park at 10:30 AM. Second shuttle departs Carpenter at 11:00 AM. The stream study will end promptly at 11:45 AM with the last shuttle back to Carpenter departing the creek at 12 noon.

Dress: Please come prepared to potentially get wet and dirty. Old sneakers or boots preferred.

Fees: This is a free event, but parking fees are in effect. Come for the stream study and stay for the annual White Clay Creek Fest (noon- 4 PM)  $4 In State, $8 Out of State per carload.
