Rain Barrels
Rain barrels are containers used to harvest rain water from rooftops. Typically, one inch of rainfall on a 1,000 square foot roof yields 600 gallons of water. Collecting rainwater helps the environment by preventing this water from becoming stormwater runoff, reducing erosion, and preventing floods. Not only do rain barrels protect our streams from pollution, they also save homeowners money. The water collected can be used to water gardens and household plants.
